The 19 wards of the Borough of Tameside. |
Voters go to the polls on Thursday 22nd May 2014 for the Local and European Elections being held on the same day. Locally, it will be the first time that the electorate will be able to give their verdict on the library closures and cuts to public services - which were announced by the Labour controlled council one month after the 2012 local elections - although it will indeed be interesting to see just how much public anger has died down over the last 23 months!
One third of the 57 councillors in Tameside are up for re-election - though it is also disgraceful that the people are expected to vote but will be incapable of changing the party controlling the council.
Labour will be defending 16 of the seats and the Conservatives 3. The Green Party have a candidate in every ward, whilst UKIP are fielding candidates in 11 areas. Other candidates are also standing for election across Tameside - including myself in Denton South.
For the complete list of candidates standing in all the wards across the borough please view the Tameside Council link below:

Good luck to you Carl. If I lived in Denton South you would have my vote.
