Keiran Quinn and our lack of real Democracy

Labour Leader Kieran Quinn recently stated that: "People tell me
they want strong, decisive government and that is what they get".

Well Councillor Quinn, waiting until the month after all your own
party's councillors were safely re-elected in 2012 and then secure in
the knowledge that there would not be another local election in
Tameside until 2014 before cutting libraries and community centres is
not strong, decisive government - it is just plain cowardly, dishonest
and shameful.

Councillor Quinn also stated: "In Tameside, the public say Labour
Councillors are doing a good job".

Who would these people be? Obviously not the overwhelming majority of
Tamesiders who are so sick and tired of our local Labour Council and
the complete lack of any credible Opposition that they can no longer
be bothered to vote. Nor I imagine would they be the people who over
the past year have lost public facilities whilst not seeing any cuts
in the number of councillors.

The truth is that Tameside Labour Council rely on apathy and deception
rather than good government to remain in power. They know that, just
so long as they can get their own core supporters out for every
election and rely on everyone else to stay at home and not bother
voting, they can really do whatever they like!

  1. This is a message from one of Carl's friends wishing him all the best in getting married, fighting the Labour Party and hopefully getting elected in May 2014. Keep up the good work!

    1. All Councillors participating in the Members ICT Scheme and who contract for the supply of Broadband receive an allowance of £250 towards their bill.
